Mae Jemison was the first black female Astronaut. & she took flight in 1992 she was in space for 190 hours! She was born October 17,1956 but she wasn't just a astronaut she was also a physician. She spent a great amount of time in the library reading so she can learn so she can follow her dreams. It all payed off because in 1977 she received her bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. Mae Jemison received a number of accolades including several honorary doctorates, and more. she went to Cornell University in 1981 then she went to Stanford University in 1977 and she went to Morgan Park in High School in 1973. she inspired many many more black females to go to space.she is also currently working as a public speaker. She is 60 years old and she will always be a inspirational person to men and women. And she deserves to be known in the black history month.this is my black history month project.
